UCL: Lazio Goalkeeper scores stunning equalizer against Atletico Madrid

In a stunning turn of events, Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel made a historic impact by scoring a last-minute equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw for his team against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. During the final moments of the match at the Stadio Olimpico, Provedel, making his Champions League debut, demonstrated his unlikely attacking prowess by connecting with a cross from Luis Alberto with a deft glancing header.
The late equalizer served as a form of redemption for Provedel, who had been left frustrated earlier in the match when Atletico's Pablo Barrios found the net with a shot that took a significant deflection off Lazio midfielder Daichi Kamada.
"I’m going to enjoy this. But we only got one point; we didn’t win," Provedel commented, revealing that he models his attacking style after Lazio center forward Ciro Immobile.
In the other Group E match, Feyenoord secured a 2-0 victory over Celtic.
Before kickoff, Lazio fans warmly welcomed back Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, who played a pivotal role in Lazio's 2000 Serie A title win as a player and also clinched three other trophies with the Roman club.
A banner displayed by Lazio's passionate "ultra" supporters read, "Rome and Lazio will always be your home. Welcome back, Cholo, our champion of Italy." While this marks Atletico's 11th consecutive appearance in the Champions League group stage, Lazio is participating in the competition for only the second time in the past 16 seasons.
Lazio created more scoring opportunities, with Mattia Zaccagni and Luis Alberto coming close to finding the net on several occasions. Additionally, Ciro Immobile failed to capitalize on an errant pass from Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak in the second half.
Oblak later made a crucial save, diving to push a long-range effort from Danilo Cataldi wide during stoppage time just before Provedel's historic goal. Unfortunately for Lazio, they also lost left-back Luca Pellegrini to injury during the first half of the match.
