10-man Juventus storm back to edge RB Leipzig in five-goal thriller

The encounter featured the Bundesliga's most formidable defense against a Juventus side that had conceded merely one goal throughout the season, setting the stage for what was anticipated to be a closely contested match. The initial thirty minutes unfolded as a rather lackluster affair.

For the visitors, the beginning of the match proved particularly challenging, as both Bremer and Nicolas Gonzalez were compelled to leave the field due to injuries within the first ten minutes.

Nevertheless, the singular moment of brilliance in the first half made the wait worthwhile.

Xavi Simons delivered a beautifully curled diagonal pass to Benjamin Sesko, who skillfully controlled the ball with his right leg before unleashing a powerful left-footed shot that struck the underside of the crossbar and found the back of the net.

Juventus' response was somewhat muted, although they felt aggrieved after a penalty appeal was turned down when Dusan Vlahovic was fouled in the box by Castello Lukeba, marking the first of several contentious moments involving referee Francois Letexier.

The interval served as a stark contrast, as the second half commenced with immediate intensity.

Vlahovic equalized for his team by deftly redirecting a cross from Francisco Conceicao into the net, but the celebration was fleeting.

Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio received a red card for handling the ball outside his penalty area, preventing Lois Openda from having a clear shot on goal. Following the ensuing free-kick, Douglas Luiz, who had just entered the match, inadvertently blocked Xavi Simons’ attempt with his arm, resulting in a penalty for the Red Bulls.

Sesko successfully converted the penalty for his second goal, but he soon found himself in competition for the title of the match's top scorer.

Thiago Motta’s squad was in dire need of a miracle, and a miraculous performance unfolded in Saxony as Vlahovic unleashed a stunning curling shot that soared past Peter Gulacsi into the top corner of the net.

With just eight minutes remaining, Conceicao maneuvered into the penalty area and managed to slot an unexpected winner into the bottom corner, ensuring that Juventus maintained their record of scoring exactly three goals in each of their five victories this season.
