11-time champion Rafael Nadal pull out of Monte Carlo Masters

Rafael Nadal has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Monte Carlo Masters, citing that his body is not yet prepared for competition.
The Spanish tennis player, who plans to retire after the 2024 season, made a comeback in Brisbane in January after being sidelined for almost a year due to a hip flexor injury. Despite his efforts to return to top form,
Nadal expressed his disappointment in not being able to participate in the tournament through a statement on social media. He wrote on his verify handle on X @rafaelnadal saying:
Hi all, these are very difficult moments for me, sporting wise. Unfortunately I have to tell you that I am not going to be playing in Monte Carlo. My body simply won’t allow me.
And even if I am working hard & making the maximum effort every day with all the will to play and compete again at tournaments that have been very important for me, the truth is that I can’t play today. You have no idea how hard this is for me to not be able to play these events.
The only thing I can do is to accept the situation and try to look at the immediate future keeping the excitement and will to play in order to give me a chance for things to get better.
Thanks again to all, as always, for all the support and best wishes!
The Monte Carlo Masters is set to commence on Sunday, a competition where Nadal has claimed victory a record 11 times, with his most recent win in 2018.
