AC Milan 1-2 Inter Milan: Nerazzurri claim 20th league title in heated Derby della Madonnina win

Inter clinched their 20th Serie A championship on Monday in the most gratifying manner imaginable - by triumphing with a hard-earned 2-1 victory in the Milan derby.
Inter entered Monday's match against city rivals AC Milan knowing that a victory would secure them an insurmountable lead at the summit of the Serie A table with five matches remaining.
"I'm on the verge of tears because we put in so much effort, we deserve this happiness," tearfully expressed Lautaro Martinez to the media following the derby.
"It's been an amazing journey, but we must continue pushing forward as we have already clinched numerous trophies and aim to secure many more."
Reflecting on the intense emotions of the game, Marcus Thuram, one of Inter's goal scorers on Monday, stated, "It's an overwhelming feeling, an intense match. We wanted to achieve this for our supporters, and we did. This marks my first league title, and I am immensely proud of it."
Having suffered only one defeat in the first 33 rounds and conceding just 18 goals, Simone Inzaghi's squad has had a remarkable season thus far, making it one of the most dominant campaigns in Serie A history.
Although Inter cannot match Juventus' record of 102 points in a single season (set in 2013/14), they have the opportunity to become only the second team to surpass the 100-point mark.
Securing the Scudetto in the derby has elevated this exceptional league triumph even further. Furthermore, not only did Inter defeat Milan for the second time this season on Monday (having thrashed them 5-1 in September), but they also became the first of the two Milanese powerhouses to reach 20 league titles in the process.
Previously, both clubs were tied with 19 Scudetti each. Inter has now claimed some distinctive bragging rights, although Juventus remains the most successful club with 36 championships.
