AC Milan 3-3 Genoa: Rossoneri held by visitors in six-goal thriller

Mateo Retegui saved Genoa from a loss by scoring a late equalizer in an exciting 3-3 Serie A match at the San Siro. The Rossoneri have now extended their unbeaten streak against the Grifone to five games in the league.
Stefano Pioli implemented five alterations to the Rossoneri lineup following the draw with Juventus, and Genoa quickly capitalized in the initial five minutes.
Fikayo Tomori was penalized, allowing Genoa to score their first goal in four league encounters against Retegui, who confidently converted the spot-kick past Marco Sportiello.
Christian Pulisic then came close to equalizing, skillfully curling a shot that hit the right post before going out.
The visitors aimed for a second consecutive clean sheet and their first at San Siro since 2017, successfully keeping Milan's attackers at bay for most of the first half. However, goalkeeper Josep Martínez couldn't prevent the hosts from leveling just before halftime.
Alessandro Florenzi perfectly connected with Samuel Chukwueze's cross to score the equalizer from close range, marking his first goal of the season and bringing the scores level.
Genoa quickly regained the lead after the break, with Caleb Ekuban calmly heading the ball into the net, leaving Sportiello with no chance after a pass from Alessandro Vogliacco.
With 20 minutes remaining, Milan turned the game around, scoring twice in quick succession to take the lead for the first time.
Matteo Gabbia scored with a powerful header from inside the six-yard box, followed by Olivier Giroud's fantastic volley after a pass from the right wing, potentially securing their first home win in three games.
Despite this, Genoa managed to secure a draw in the final minutes, capitalizing on a defensive error from Milan, with Retegui scoring the equalizer from close range.
Former Rossoneri forward Alberto Gilardino will now prepare his team to face US Sassuolo, AS Roma, and Bologna in their last three matches as they aim for a top-half finish.
Milan, however, have little motivation to compete, as they have not yet secured their second place position after failing to win in their last six matches in all competitions.
