AC Milan's Mike Maignan recovering well after head injury in Serie A win at Udinese

AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is recovering after suffering a frightening head injury during his team's commanding 4-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A on Friday night. The French shot-stopper was stretchered off in the 51st minute following a violent collision with teammate Alex Jimenez, which briefly left him unconscious.

The incident occurred as Maignan rushed out of his box to intercept the ball, inadvertently clashing heads with Jimenez. While Jimenez initially continued playing, he was eventually substituted after showing signs of discomfort.

Maignan was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and spent the night under medical observation. On Saturday, AC Milan confirmed that the 28-year-old will return to Milan after a series of precautionary tests.

“Fortunately, Mike is fine. We all asked the doctor how he was, and he reassured us by telling us that he’s in the hospital for tests, but he’s doing okay. He’s a great captain,” said Milan defender Matteo Gabbia after the match.

The reassuring news comes as a relief to Milan fans and teammates alike, especially with a crucial Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Inter Milan approaching on April 23.
