Al-Ettifaq 0-2 Al-Hilal: League leaders defeat hosts to set record for consecutive victories

Al-Hilal set a Saudi Pro League record for consecutive victories on Monday, defeating hosts Al-Ettifaq 2-0.

With 59 points from 21 matches, the Saudi giants lead the standings by seven points over Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr, who defeated Al-Shabab 3-2 on Sunday.

Coach Jorge Jesus' team have won 14 consecutive league matches, breaking Al-Nassr's previous record of 13 victories from November 2013 to February 2014.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic gave Al-Hilal the lead in the 40th minute with a header from a corner. Salem Al Dawsari scored the second goal from close range in first-half added time.

Al-Hilal's evening could have been perfect, but top scorer Alexander Mitrovic received a yellow card and will miss the next match, against defending champions Al-Ittihad, due to card accumulation.
