Al-Ittihad defeat Al-Wehda to advance to Saudi Super Cup final as Benzema sets record

Al-Ittihad's Karim Benzema scored the fastest goal in Saudi Super Cup history on Monday, helping his team win 2-1 over Al-Wehda in Abu Dhabi and advance to the final.

Benzema took advantage of a poor clearance to score from close range after 55 seconds, breaking Al Fateh striker Doris Salomo Fuakuputu's record set in the first final in 2013.

This was the French striker's first goal of 2024.

After 42 minutes, Abderrazzak Hamedallah doubled his team's lead with a tap-in off a Romarinho cross.

Hussain Ahmed Al Issa scored a consolation goal for Al-Wehda in the dying seconds, following Morocco midfielder Faycal Fajr's missed penalty in the 91st minute.

In Thursday's final, Al-Ittihad coach Marcelo Gallardo will look to win his first title with the club.

They will face the winners of the second semi-final match between Al-Hilal and Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr, which takes place later on Monday at Al-Jazira's Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
