Alcaraz relishing French Open rematch with Tsitsipas

Carlos Alcaraz will face a tough challenge in his quest for a French Open title as he goes up against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. However, Alcaraz can draw confidence from his impressive record against the Greek ninth seed.

In their previous encounter last year, Alcaraz displayed exceptional tennis skills, defeating Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 and securing a spot in the semifinals of Roland-Garros for the first time in his career.

With a perfect record of five wins in their previous meetings, the 21-year-old Alcaraz is aiming for his third Grand Slam victory while also seeking redemption for last year's semifinal loss, where he suffered from severe cramps against eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Tsitsipas, on the other hand, enters the match with hopes of causing an upset at Court Philippe-Chatrier in the night session. His recent form, including winning the Monte Carlo title in April after defeating top players like Casper Ruud, Jannik Sinner, and Alexander Zverev, adds to his confidence.

"I enjoy these types of matches," Alcaraz expressed after his dominant victory over 21st-seed Felix Auger Aliassime in the fourth round on Sunday. "I have been closely following Stefanos' matches lately. I am aware of his excellent form and high confidence level."

"I have a strategy to trouble him. I will focus on playing shots that put him in difficult situations. I will give my best performance and hope that the crowd enjoys the match as much as I will. Let's see how it unfolds."

Still in pursuit of his first Grand Slam title, Tsitsipas aims to capitalize on his opportunities against Alcaraz.

"Well, he has mentioned in the past that he enjoys playing against me, so I hope to make him less comfortable this time," the Greek stated.

"My goal is to reach a level where he feels uneasy playing against me. That's what I aim for in this match."

In the day session, another exciting clash awaits as Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner takes on the resurgent Grigor Dimitrov.
