Alex Albon signs new multi-year F1 contract extension with Williams

Alex Albon, aged 28, has committed his future to Williams by signing a "multi-year" contract extension with the British Formula 1 team.

Despite being linked with Mercedes and a potential return to Red Bull, Albon has chosen to stay with Williams.

In the 2023 drivers' championship, he secured 27 out of the team's 28 points, helping them achieve their best placing since 2017 by finishing seventh in the Constructors' Championship.

However, Albon has yet to score a point in the current season's six races. In a statement, Albon expressed his happiness to continue working with Williams and their talented team.

He acknowledged the challenging start to the year but believes in the long-term project and the progress being made behind the scenes.

Although the length of Albon's new deal was not specified, Williams stated that it would align with the new era of Formula 1 regulations and reflect their shared belief in the team's upward trajectory.

The team praised Albon's determination and dedication, highlighting his integral role in their progress and success since joining in 2022.
