Amorim says goal is to 'win the Premier League' after painful FA Cup defeat at United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim emphasized the necessity for the Red Devils to aim for a resurgence to the pinnacle of the Premier League following their penalty shootout loss to Fulham in the FA Cup.
The defeat against the Cottagers has further exacerbated a challenging beginning to Amorim's tenure, with United currently positioned 14th in the Premier League, trailing leaders Liverpool by 34 points.
Nevertheless, the Portuguese coach articulated that his primary objective at Old Trafford is to secure the club's first Premier League title since 2013, rather than focusing on cup success.
"The goal is to win the Premier League, so I know that we are losing games and losing trophies during this season but the goal is to win the Premier League again," said Amorim.
"I don't know how long it's going to take, but that is our goal. If you think like that, we can suffer a little bit in these defeats, a lot sometimes, but we have a goal so we continue forward no matter what."
The notion of United once again dominating the English football scene appears to be unrealistic at this time. Amorim has secured only five victories out of his 16 league matches in his tenure.
"It's impossible to know (how long it will take)," he added.
"But you start understanding. I think the players are better, we understand better the league, we know what to do with the squad, what is the future and we'll see in the future."
United's focus now shifts to the Europa League, which represents their sole opportunity to secure a trophy this season. Amorim's squad is set to encounter a challenging Round of 16 matchup against Real Sociedad, and their prospects have been further complicated by the necessity of playing for 120 minutes.
"It's really important but we have to recover the players, try to push for the other players that are out because they were really tired," said Amorim.
