Andreescu rules out Australian Open; targets Paris Olympics

Bianca Andreescu has been out of action due to a stress fracture in her back, which she sustained during her match against Camila Giorgi in the Canadian Open.
Despite steady but slow progress in her recovery, she has not been able to resume training and expects to make her comeback in March or April, after the Australian Open. Unfortunately, she confirmed that she will not be participating in the Australian Open.
She is currently targeting a return after the Australian Open or during the American Tour, possibly at Indian Wells.
While she remains optimistic about her recovery, she acknowledges that her back injury is still a concern and that healing takes time.
Looking ahead, Andreescu expressed confidence for the year 2024. The big question now is whether she can regain full fitness and secure a spot on the Canadian team for the Paris Olympics.
Her world ranking has dropped to 96 and is likely to fall further as she continues to be sidelined. She watched as her fellow Canadian players, Leylah Fernandez and Marina Stakusic, led the team to victory in the Billie Jean King Cup last month.
Andreescu expressed her disappointment at not being able to participate and emphasized her desire to win the tournament in the future. She recognizes the need to work hard next year to earn her spot and hopes that her dream of playing in the tournament will serve as motivation.
She also expressed frustration at the numerous injuries she has faced throughout her career, stating that one would expect her to have learned from them.
