Angola progress to AFCON quarter-finals with action-packed win over Namibia

Pedro Goncalves' Angola team advanced to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations for only the third time in history. They comfortably sailed past Namibia in a thrilling match that witnessed the expulsion of a player from each team, resulting in both sides playing with 10 men.
The opening 45 minutes were characterized by fast-paced action, as two goals and two red cards were the highlights.
Angola's goalkeeper, Neblu, was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area after a chip attempt from Namibia's Bethuel Muzeu.
Despite being down to 10 men, Angola continued to attack and soon equalized with a well-executed move finished by Gelson Dala.
Namibia faced an uphill battle, which became even steeper when they also had a player sent off. Lubeni Pombili Haukongo received a second yellow card, resulting in a red card.
From the resulting freekick, Angola extended their lead with Dala scoring his second goal of the match. The second half saw a decrease in intensity compared to the chaotic first half, as Angola opted to defend their lead.
However, Angola remained dangerous on the counter-attack, which led to their third goal. Mabululu found the back of the net with a stylish right-footed shot, securing the victory for Angola midway through the second half.
Angola had a remarkable evening as they reached the quarter-finals of AFCON for the first time since hosting the tournament in 2010.
With this achievement, Gonçalves, the coach, aims to surpass their previous performance and advance even further this time.
On the other hand, Namibia's debut in the AFCON knockout stage concluded in disappointment. The Brave Warriors will reflect on the missed opportunity caused by the early red card given to their goalkeeper, Neblú.
