Angry Man City boss Guardiola lashes out at FA Cup schedule despite victory

Pep Guardiola, the 53-year-old manager of Manchester City, expressed his frustration with the FA Cup schedule following his team's 1-0 victory over Chelsea, which secured their place in the final.

This match took place just three days after their hopes of winning a treble were dashed by a penalty shootout loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Bernardo Silva's late goal sealed the victory for City, but they were fortunate as Chelsea failed to convert numerous chances they created. Despite reaching the final,

City's manager, Guardiola, was visibly frustrated by the lack of recovery time after the disappointing Champions League exit earlier in the week.

Guardiola expressed his discontent, stating that it was unacceptable for the players' health to play under such circumstances and questioned why the match was not scheduled for Sunday like Manchester United's semi-final game against Coventry City, who had both avoided midweek matches.

Guardiola highlighted the mental and physical challenges faced by his players, particularly Rodri and Kyle Walker.

However, he emphasized City's determination to defend their trophy and acknowledged their happiness at reaching another final.

Silva echoed Guardiola's sentiments, praising the team's character in the face of disappointments and defeats.

City's hopes for a treble were dashed by the loss to Real, but they remain in contention for a Premier League/FA Cup double.
