Anna Kalinskaya beats Jasmine Paolini to reach maiden Grand Slam quarter-final

Anna Kalinskaya, a Russian player who was not seeded, impressively advanced to her first-ever Grand Slam quarter-final at the Australian Open. She dominated the match against Jasmine Paolini, the 26th seed from Italy, winning in straight sets.
Kalinskaya, the fearless world number 75, had never progressed beyond the opening round in her previous four attempts at Melbourne. However, she displayed remarkable resilience and triumphed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on John Cain Arena.
In her unexpected quest to reach the semi-finals, Kalinskaya will now face either the 12th seed from China, Zheng Qinwen, or the unseeded Frenchwoman, Oceane Dodin.
Expressing her elation, Kalinskaya shared, "Passing multiple rounds at a Grand Slam feels absolutely incredible. It holds a special significance for me." Last year, she encountered challenges due to leg injuries, which forced her to stay away from the tour for nearly four months.
Throughout her journey, Kalinskaya demonstrated unwavering determination and a positive mindset, stating, "I simply fought and maintained a positive outlook."
Prior to this year, neither Kalinskaya nor Paolini had secured a main-draw victory in Melbourne or progressed beyond the second round in any Grand Slam.
