Funeral prayers for Anthony Joshua’s close friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele will be held at the London Central Mosque on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Bodies repatriated to the UK
The bodies of Ghami and Ayodele were repatriated to the United Kingdom earlier this week following a tragic road accident in Nigeria that claimed their lives.
Both men were part of Anthony Joshua’s close inner circle. Ghami served as his strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele, popularly known as “Latz,” was his personal trainer.
Details of the Fatal Accident
The fatal crash occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, in the Makun area of Ogun State.
A Lexus SUV transporting Anthony Joshua collided with a stationary truck on the highway. While Joshua survived the accident with minor injuries, Ghami and Ayodele were pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident sent shockwaves through the boxing world, prompting an outpouring of condolences from fellow fighters, fans, and sports figures across the globe.

A Moment of Mourning for the Boxing Community
The London funeral will give family members, friends, and members of the boxing community an opportunity to pay their final respects to two men widely regarded as instrumental figures behind Joshua’s career and personal life.
Joshua, who has described both men as more than just team members, has remained out of the public eye since the incident, mourning the loss of his close companions.
The Janaza prayer on Sunday is expected to be attended by relatives, close associates, and members of the wider sporting community, marking a solemn moment of remembrance.
