Arda Guler scores twice as Real Madrid dominate Deportiva Minera to secure spot in Copa del Rey Round of 16

Real Madrid secured their advancement to the Round of 16 in the Copa del Rey with a commanding 5-0 victory over fourth-tier Club Deportiva Minera on Monday, highlighted by a remarkable brace from striker Arda Guler, aged 19.

The match commenced with Madrid taking an early advantage as Federico Valverde executed a stunning volley to score within the first five minutes. Eduardo Camavinga extended the lead with a powerful header just eight minutes later, and Guler netted the third goal before the 30-minute mark.

"I am pleased to contribute goals to the team, but my primary role is different; I aim to assist in the best way possible, both defensively and offensively," Valverde remarked following the match.

"I appreciate that the coach consistently considers me for every match, showing confidence in my abilities. Even when fatigued, I remain enthusiastic," the Uruguayan midfielder added.

The closest opportunity for the hosts came when striker Omar Perdomo struck a long-range shot that narrowly missed the far right post of Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Ten minutes into the second half, Luka Modric delivered a spectacular finish into the far corner after a clever interplay with Brahim Diaz, igniting a festive atmosphere among the crowd at the Cartagonova stadium, despite the home side's deficit.

"(Luka) is a treasure for football, especially for those fortunate enough to witness his talent firsthand," stated Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. "The fans, the players, and the coaching staff all benefit from his presence. His preparation for matches, treating each as a final, serves as a vital example for our younger players."

"The atmosphere was excellent for the players. They engaged with the fans by signing shirts, which contributed to a wonderful match," the manager further noted.

Guler capped off the evening with his second goal just two minutes before the final whistle.

Despite the five goals conceded, Minera goalkeeper Fran Martinez made several impressive saves, thwarting attempts from Valverde and Kylian Mbappe.

Currently, Cartagena's Deportiva Minera leads Group 13 of the Segunda Federacion, while Madrid tops LaLiga with 43 points, two ahead of Atletico Madrid.
