Argentina defeat New Zealand to win third consecutive HSBC SVNS Gold

Argentina defeated New Zealand 36-12 in the HSBC Vancouver 2024 final, winning their third consecutive gold medal in Canada and third in a row this season.
After a slow first half, Matías Osadczuk scored a hat-trick of tries to power away from New Zealand and maintain their dominance in the men's SVNS 2024.
A gold in Vancouver means that their silver in Cape Town is the only blemish on Los Pumas Sevens' season thus far, with their final victory extending their current winning streak to 15 games.
The All Blacks Sevens looked dangerous in the first few minutes, scoring two tries in three minutes, but Argentina quickly responded, with Marcos Moneta finding space on the blindside to cut the deficit in half.
A few minutes of frantic action ensued as Argentina attempted to cross, and after a turnover, Luciano Gonzalez drove low over the whitewash to tie Los Pumas Sevens at halftime.
The series leaders came out strong in the second half, forming a three-man overlap to walk in a third score and take the lead for the first time.
Argentina took advantage of a loose ball and passed it wide to Osadczuk, who scored brilliantly in the corner to put some distance between them and their opponents. Minutes later, Osadczuk added another, completing his hat-trick.
With a minute and a half remaining, the game was all but decided. Matteo Graziano added one more with the clock in the red to cement their dominance in HSBC SVNS 2024 and at BC Place, where they are now 18 games unbeaten.
