Arsenal 3-0 Nottingham Forest: Saka stars as Gunners return to winning ways

Arsenal showcased their impressive form against the high-flying Nottingham Forest, delivering a commanding performance that culminated in a 3-0 victory.

This win extends the Gunners' unbeaten streak at home in the Premier League to nine matches, dating back to the previous season.

Eager to break a four-match winless streak in the league (D2, L2) that threatened their title aspirations, Arsenal began the match with great intensity against this season's unexpected contenders.

Prior to this match, only league leaders Liverpool had conceded fewer goals than Forest. However, within the first five minutes, the visitors received a warning when an offside call denied Jurrien Timber his inaugural Premier League goal.

Returning to the lineup after a lengthy absence this season, Martin Odegaard played a crucial role in Arsenal's opening goal in the 15th minute. He exchanged passes with Bukayo Saka, who then skillfully maneuvered into the penalty area and unleashed a powerful shot past a stranded Matz Sels.

Although Forest started the match level on points with Arsenal, the home side quickly established dominance, displaying fluid passing and movement around the penalty area.

As the first half drew to a close, Sels was forced into action, first saving a fierce shot from Leandro Trossard and then diving to deflect a curling effort from Saka, keeping the score at 1-0, a deficit that seemed unlikely to change after the interval.

Thomas Partey, who had participated in every league match this season, made a significant impact after coming off the bench in the second half, doubling Arsenal's lead in the 52nd minute.

Saka, involved in nearly all of Arsenal's positive plays, set up Partey, who struck a dipping shot that curled away from Sels' outstretched hand.

Forest sought to their substitutes for a response, but they struggled to create meaningful chances throughout the match, with Chris Wood inadvertently blocking a goal-bound attempt from fellow substitute Jota Silva.

Arsenal's victory was ultimately sealed by a substitute, as 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri netted his inaugural Premier League goal, ensuring all three points and marking the Gunners' seventh triumph in their last eight encounters with Forest.

This win maintains Arsenal's position in fourth place in the standings, now trailing leaders Liverpool by six points, although they have played one additional match.

For Forest, the outcome is not catastrophic; despite experiencing their first loss in eight away league matches dating back to the previous season, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team still retains a spot in the European qualification standings for the time being.
