Madueke inspires Arsenal rout as Gunners move seven points clear at the top

Arsenal brushed aside any lingering doubts about their title credentials with a commanding 4–0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road, stretching their Premier League lead to seven points and tightening their grip on the title race.

Mikel Arteta’s side arrived in Yorkshire under mild scrutiny after a brief dip in form, including last weekend’s first home defeat of the season against Manchester United. With just two points taken from their previous three league matches, questions resurfaced about Arsenal’s mentality in pressure moments — especially after finishing runners-up in each of the last three campaigns.

On Saturday, those concerns were emphatically answered.

Arsenal regain momentum in style

From the opening exchanges, Arsenal played with authority, controlling possession and forcing Leeds deeper with every passing minute. Their breakthrough came when Viktor Gyökeres, who has faced criticism since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon, timed his run perfectly to meet Gabriel Martinelli’s delivery and thunder home his 11th goal of the season.

The goal drained belief from a Leeds side that had been unbeaten at home since November and still hovering only six points above the relegation zone despite an otherwise respectable run of results.

Arsenal continued to press after the break, and Noni Madueke’s influence grew as the game opened up. The winger’s pace and direct running repeatedly unsettled the Leeds back line, creating space that Arsenal ruthlessly exploited.

Substitute Gabriel Jesus added the finishing touch four minutes from time, unleashing a powerful strike to complete a dominant afternoon and underline Arsenal’s depth as the title run-in intensifies.

Title race context and Sunday fixtures

The result moves Arsenal seven points clear of both Manchester City and Aston Villa, though both sides have the opportunity to respond on Sunday. City face a tricky trip to north London to take on Tottenham, while Villa host Brentford at Villa Park.

Elsewhere in the race for European places, Chelsea could climb into the top four later on Saturday if they continue their encouraging start under Liam Rosenior against West Ham at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool, meanwhile, host Newcastle in the late kick-off at Anfield as Arne Slot looks to ease growing pressure with a statement win.

Everton snatch late point at Brighton

At the Amex Stadium, Everton rescued a dramatic 1–1 draw against Brighton thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser from Beto. The striker struck in the 97th minute to deny the Seagulls all three points in a result that does little to advance either club’s hopes of European qualification.

Brighton had taken the lead through Pascal Groß, who marked his return from Borussia Dortmund with his first goal since rejoining the club.

Bournemouth ease relegation fears

Bournemouth took a major step toward Premier League safety with a 2–0 win away at bottom-of-the-table Wolves. Goals from Eli Kroupi and Alex Scott lifted the Cherries to 12th place, opening up a 13-point cushion above the relegation zone and effectively ending any lingering survival concerns.
