Arsenal Women confirm Slegers as head coach following unbeaten run

Arsenal Women have appointed Renee Slegers as their permanent head coach through the 2024-25 season, following an impressive 11-match unbeaten streak under her interim leadership. The 35-year-old Dutch tactician, who previously spent time in Arsenal's youth academy from 2006 to 2007, has transformed the team's fortunes since taking over from Jonas Eidevall in October.
"I'm so excited to be continuing our journey together," Slegers said in a statement. "It's a wonderful honour to represent this club as head coach and I have so much belief in what we can all achieve together."
The former Netherlands international's impact was quickly recognized as she claimed the Women's Super League Manager of the Month award in December. Under her guidance, Arsenal have climbed to third in the WSL table, accumulating 21 points from 10 matches.
"Over the past few months, I've felt such a powerful sense of collective ownership and responsibility across our players and staff – that has been our strength and I know we will make sure we drive and nurture this feeling as we all move forward," Slegers added. "We want to deliver something beautiful that's inspiring and leads to winning trophies..."
The Gunners will look to extend their impressive run when they host struggling Crystal Palace this Sunday, as Slegers begins her permanent tenure at the helm of one of women's football's most prestigious clubs.
