AS Roma 2-4 Inter Milan: Inter fight back to defeat hosts and extend lead at the top

Leaders Inter Milan rallied from behind to defeat AS Roma 4-2 in Serie A on Saturday, ending Daniele De Rossi's winning streak at the capital club despite trailing at halftime.

Inter, who have 60 points from 23 games, increased their lead over second-place Juventus to seven points before Massimiliano Allegri's team hosts Udinese on Monday.

They still have one game in hand from their January trip to Saudi Arabia for the Italian Super Cup.

Fifth-placed Roma, who won their previous three games under De Rossi after replacing Jose Mourinho in January, have 38 points from 24 games.

Roma raced out of the blocks, and Stephan El Shaarawy came close to scoring inside the first minute, but his close-range shot was tipped away by Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Instead, in the 17th minute, Francesco Acerbi headed home a corner kick to give Inter the lead after Roma's Romelu Lukaku flicked the ball on, a goal that stood after a lengthy VAR review for offside.

Roma pushed back, and Gianluca Mancini nodded in a free kick before the half-hour mark, before El Shaarawy put the home side ahead at the break with a shot from a tight angle that bounced in after hitting both posts.

Marcus Thuram levelled for the resurgent Inter with a low first-time shot four minutes into the second half, and Roma's Angelino put the ball into his own net at the rainy Stadio Olimpico to restore the visitors' lead in the 56th minute.

In stoppage time, Alessandro Bastoni scored after a lovely squared pass from substitute Marko Arnautovic to secure the points for the visitors.

Roma, who have lost each of their last seven home games against Inter in Serie A, have not defeated them at the Olimpico since October 2016.

Inter will next face bottom club Salernitana on Friday before returning to Champions League action against Atletico Madrid at home on February 20.

Roma travel to Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday before facing 14th-placed Frosinone in Serie A on February 18.

Earlier on Saturday, Lazio moved up to sixth place with a 3-1 win over relegation-threatened Cagliari.
