Asisat Oshoala joins Bay FC from Barcelona Femini

Oshoala officially completed her transfer to Bay FC on Thursday, signing a two-year contract with an option for another year. The reported fee for the transfer is $162,000.
Expressing her mixed emotions, Oshoala said, "As I say goodbye to this incredible team and the city that has been my home for the past five years, I am filled with a range of emotions." She continued, "It has been an absolute honor and privilege to wear the Barcelona Femini jersey and represent this prestigious club."
Reflecting on her time at Barcelona, Oshoala highlighted the memorable moments she experienced since joining the team in 2019. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the team's success, lifting several trophies together. Oshoala acknowledged that these achievements were a result of hard work and dedication, and she felt privileged to have been part of such a remarkable team.
Having initially joined Barcelona on loan from Chinese side Dalian Quanjian in 2019, Oshoala made a permanent move to the club on a three-year deal. During her time at Barcelona, she made 162 appearances in all competitions, scoring an impressive 117 goals. In the 2022 season, she achieved a record-setting feat by being the joint top scorer in the league with 19 goals.
Oshoala's contributions to the team were significant, as she topped the scorers chart three times in Spain. Her performances helped Barcelona win the UEFA Women's Champions League twice in 2021 and 2023, along with four league titles, three Spanish Super Cups, and the Copa de la Reina three times.
In addition to the trophies and accolades, Oshoala expressed her gratitude for the relationships she built with her teammates, coaches, staff, and the passionate fans. She considered them as her family and expressed everlasting gratitude for the love and support they have shown her.

Upon commencing this new journey, I would like to express that Barcelona Femini will forever hold a special place in my heart. The memories, lessons, and friendships that I have acquired during my time here will always be cherished and carried with me.
In response to her arrival at the club, Lucy Rushton, the General Manager of Bay FC, believes that the addition of the Nigerian player will greatly enhance the club's quality.

As a six-time CAF Player of The Year recipient, she will occupy an international roster spot and will join the team once her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate are obtained.
