Aston Villa 3-1 Luton Town: Unai Emery's side wins their 12th consecutive Premier League home game.

Aston Villa won their 12th consecutive Premier League game at home on Sunday, beating struggling Luton Town 3-1 to maintain their top-four challenge.

The sides were separated at halftime by John McGinn's 17th-minute strike, but Villa made their dominance count after the break.

Moussa Diaby scored four minutes into the second half, and an own goal by Luton's Tom Lockyer just past the hour mark sent the visitors reeling.

To their credit, Luton kept playing with vigour and earned a consolation goal thanks to another bizarre own goal credited to Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez.

Villa have now scored 20 goals in five home league games this season and have 22 points from ten games, trailing leaders Tottenham Hotspur by four points.

Luton are third from bottom with five points.

Villa are now one win away from matching their 1983 side's record 13-game winning streak at Villa Park. Only Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are on longer winning streaks at home in Europe's major leagues.
