Atalanta 1-2 Napoli: Mazzari gets debut victory as visitors climb into top four

In his second stint at SSC Napoli, Walter Mazzari secured a 2-1 victory in his debut game, orchestrating a comeback against Atalanta BC at the Gewiss Stadium in Serie A (SA). The initially subdued opening half-hour ignited in Napoli's favor, with Amir Rrahmani's goal disallowed due to offside after he headed in Giacomo Raspadori's cross.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, following a precise ball from captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, then successfully headed home, marking his second goal in consecutive games against Atalanta and granting Napoli a first-half lead.

The hosts emerged aggressively in the second half, and Ademola Lookman, a consistent threat, equalized with a glancing header from Éderson's cross. Atalanta briefly celebrated a turnaround when Mario Pašalić scored from a through pass, only to have the goal disallowed for offside.

With both teams separated by a single point before the match, Napoli regained the lead in the final 10 minutes. Two substitutes, Elif Elmas and the returning Victor Osimhen, combined effectively, with Elmas tapping home Osimhen's pass.

Gian Piero Gasperini's Atalanta suffered their fourth consecutive loss in head-to-head clashes against Napoli, causing them to lose ground in the top-four race as Napoli climbed to the third position under the guidance of new coach Mazzari.
