Atalanta 3-0 Olympique de Marseille (4-1 agg): Atalanta thump visitors to advance into first ever European final

Gian Piero Gasperini's remarkable tenure as Atalanta manager reached unprecedented heights as he led La Dea to their first-ever European final. They secured this historic achievement with a resounding 3-0 victory over Marseille in the UEFA Europa League semi-final, resulting in a 4-1 aggregate scoreline.
In the first leg, the tie was finely balanced, but it was Atalanta who seized the initiative in a completely one-sided first half. Their dominance was so evident that the only surprise at halftime was that their one-goal lead wasn't more substantial.
Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere both came close to scoring before Ademola Lookman broke the deadlock midway through the opening period. Lookman cut inside from the left and his curled shot, which took a deflection off Samuel Gigot, found the far right-hand corner of the net.
After the restart, the visitors had an opportunity to make amends for their lackluster first-half performance, but Iliman Ndiaye squandered the chance. With goalkeeper Juan Musso out of position, Ndiaye had an open goal to aim for, but his lobbed effort missed the target. Matteo Ruggeri punished this miss emphatically, extending Atalanta's lead and effectively sealing the tie.
In the Marseille penalty area, the 21-year-old Ruggeri unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner of Pau López's goal, giving Atalanta an insurmountable advantage on the night and breathing room in the overall tie.
Ultimately, it was not Marseille's night, as Atalanta proved to be superior to the Ligue 1 side. They even added a third goal through El Bilal Touré's stylish effort in stoppage time, igniting the celebrations.
Having eliminated the favorites Liverpool on their path to the final, La Dea will now face Bayer Leverkusen on May 22nd with confidence, aiming to secure only their second major trophy in history.
