Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Getafe: Uche scores on Getafe debut as both sides settle for a point

Nico Williams nearly secured the winning goal with a spectacular long-range shot, which David Soria expertly parried with a one-handed save just 13 minutes before the end, marking the closest either team came to scoring the decisive goal, resulting in a shared point for the fifth time in six encounters.

Ernesto Valverde’s squad remains unbeaten in 19 home league matches for the first time since 1984, yet they have failed to secure a victory in their opening La Liga match for the fifth consecutive season.

On the other hand, José Bordalás’ team has not achieved a head-to-head victory in nine matches, dating back to the 2019/20 season.
