Atletico Madrid 3-3 Getafe: Getafe comeback from two down to snatch a draw against 10-man Atletico

Atletico Madrid experienced an unexpected setback in their recent La Liga match after star defender Stefan Savic was shown a red card in the first half for receiving two yellow cards within 23 minutes. The second yellow card was a reckless forearm smash on Getafe winger Jaime Mata.

Despite being down to ten men, Atletico managed to take the lead before halftime, thanks to a goal from Antoine Griezmann, who capitalized on a cross from Rodrigo Riquelme.

The second half started with great energy, as Getafe quickly equalized through a looping header from Borja Mayoral that caught Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak off guard.

Atletico regained the lead when Marcos Llorente set up substitute Alvaro Morata for a well-placed header. Their advantage was further increased when a lapse in concentration from Damian Suarez resulted in a penalty for Atletico, which was successfully converted by Griezmann.

However, Atletico's defense faltered, allowing Getafe to score again through Oscar Rodriguez's drilled effort from inside the penalty area. In added time, Getafe earned a penalty, which Mayoral confidently converted, securing a draw.

This result put an end to Atletico's impressive 17-match winning streak at home, while Getafe walked away with a valuable point, reminiscent of their previous visit to the Metropolitano.
