Atletico Madrid lose 2-1 to newly promoted Las Palmas, as Diego Simeone's side blows a chance to go top of LaLiga

Kirian Rodriguez and Benito Ramirez scored as Las Palmas defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 in La Liga on Friday, handing Atletico their first loss in ten games in all competitions.
Las Palmas moved up to ninth place in the table with 17 points after their fourth win in five league games. Atletico, who had won their previous six league games, are third in the table with 25 points, just three behind leaders Real Madrid.
Rodriguez's 51st-minute goal from just outside the box after an exquisite dummy by Javi Munoz had the Estadio Gran Canaria fans roaring.
Ramirez doubled their lead in the 75th minute after the hosts forced Madrid to give up possession of the ball in their own half.
Rodrigo Riquelme sent in a long cross that Alvaro Morata fired home from close range in the 83rd minute to give Atletico a lifeline, but Las Palmas held on.
