Atlético de Madrid on course for Riyadh Air shirt sponsorship

Spanish football giants, Atletico Madrid has formed a significant partnership with Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's pioneering digital-first premium airline, as its main sponsor through a multi-year agreement. This collaboration will witness Riyadh Air prominently featured on the jerseys of the men's first team. The union of these two entities, both driven by excellence and innovation, seeks to engage millions of global fans and forge a strong strategic bond.

This alliance is a groundbreaking achievement for Riyadh Air, marking its inaugural venture into sports sponsorship since its official establishment on March 12, 2023. The airline, scheduled to commence operations in 2025, envisions connecting Saudi Arabia's capital to over 100 global destinations by 2030. With a focus on digital innovation and warm Saudi hospitality, Riyadh Air aims to integrate pioneering technologies while ensuring a genuine guest experience.

Miguel Ángel Gil, CEO of Atlético de Madrid, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the prospect of enhancing fan experiences worldwide. He stated, "This partnership means a great opportunity to offer better experiences to our fans around the world and I am confident that this alliance with Riyadh Air will take our club to new heights."

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, echoed this sentiment, describing the collaboration with Atlético de Madrid as a momentous occasion. "We believe this agreement is a perfect match, as both Riyadh Air and Atlético de Madrid share a commitment to excellence and a passion for connecting people and cultures around the world," he said. Douglas further emphasized Riyadh Air's determination to innovate and create captivating experiences for football enthusiasts and travelers alike.

Riyadh Air is owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) and is poised to become the country's second flag carrier alongside Saudia. The airline's contribution to the non-oil gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to be around $20 billion, generating over 200,000 jobs and contributing to Saudi Arabia's goal of attracting 100 million tourists by 2030.

Saudi Arabia's increasing involvement in sports is evident through its investments and ventures. The country has been making strides in European soccer, recently acquiring players from top leagues and reportedly pursuing tennis' United Cup.

The partnership between Riyadh Air and Atlético de Madrid heralds a new era in sports collaborations, exemplifying a pioneering spirit and fostering innovation in the realm of football.
