ATP roundup: Daniil Medvedev cruises into Dubai semi-finals, De Minaur beats Tsitsipas

Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, had a more comfortable victory in the quarter-finals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. After a tough battle in the second round, Medvedev defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-2, 6-3. Unlike his previous match.

Medvedev only needed two sets to secure the win. He showcased his skills with 15 winners, three aces, and just six unforced errors, completing the match in one hour and 17 minutes.

In another exciting match, fifth seed Ugo Humbert from France outlasted third seed Hubert Hurkacz from Poland. Humbert fought hard and emerged victorious with a score of 3-6, 7-6, 6-3. The match lasted two hours and 24 minutes, and Humbert displayed his resilience by saving three match points in the second-set tiebreak. He hit an impressive 24 winners throughout the match.

Two other seeded players advanced to the next round due to their opponents retiring due to injury. Second seed Andrey Rublev from Russia eliminated Sebastian Korda from the United States with a score of 6-4, 4-3 (retired). Similarly, seventh seed Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan moved past Jiri Lehecka from the Czech Republic with a score of 6-4, 4-1 (retired).

Meanwhile, in the Chile Open, fourth-seeded Alejandro Tabilo triumphed in an all-Chilean second-round matchup against Tomas Barrios Vera. Tabilo dominated the match, winning 91 percent of his first-serve points and not facing a single break point. He secured a victory with a score of 6-2, 7-5. Tabilo will now face Italy's Luciano Darderi in the quarter-finals.

In another thrilling match, second-seeded Sebastian Baez from Argentina rallied back to defeat Juan Pablo Varillas from Peru. Baez fought hard and won the match with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. His quarter-final opponent will be eighth-seeded Jaume Munar, who had a convincing victory over his Spanish compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas with a score of 6-3, 6-1.

The remaining quarter-final matches in the Chile Open will feature third-seeded Arthur Fils from France against Spain's Pedro Martinez, and top-seeded Nicolas Jarry from Chile against French qualifier Corent.

In the quarter-finals at Acapulco, Mexico, Alex de Minaur of Australia, the third seed, managed to overcome a slow start and secure a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory against Greece's fifth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas. This win puts De Minaur just one step away from reaching his second final of the year, as he had previously lost in the final in Rotterdam two weeks ago. De Minaur's semi-final opponent will be Jack Draper from Great Britain, who defeated Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic 6-2, 6-2.

Holger Rune, the second seed from Denmark, narrowly clinched a 7-6, 7-6 triumph over Germany's Dominik Koepfer. Although Rune had a set point at 5-3 in the first set, he ultimately had to rely on two tiebreakers to secure his advancement.

Rune's next challenge will be against Casper Ruud, the sixth seed from Norway, who eliminated Ben Shelton from the United States with a score of 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Despite squandering two set points in the first-set tiebreaker, Ruud displayed resilience and managed to claim victory by securing a service break in each of the last two sets.
