ATP roundup: Hurkacz wins in Estoril, Shelton & Berrettini claim titles

Poland's Hubert Hurkacz, aged 27, clinched his first clay-court title by defeating Spain's Pedro Martinez, aged 26, with a score of 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the Millennium Estoril Open in Estoril, Portugal on Sunday.
Hurkacz, the second seed, showcased an impressive performance by hitting 15 aces during the 87-minute match, securing his eighth career ATP Tour crown.
Winning 29 out of 35 first-serve points and not having to save any break points, Hurkacz dominated the final.
He holds a 3-0 record against Martinez on the tour and is set to climb two spots to a career-high-tying number eight in the PIF ATP Rankings on Monday.
On the other hand, Martinez, who defeated top seed Casper Ruud in the semifinals, will see a 17-spot improvement to No. 60 in the rankings. Martinez never managed to take the lead during the final match.

Italian Matteo Berrettini defeated defending champion Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain 7-5, 6-2 in the final in Marrakech, Morocco, in his third tournament after missing six months due to an ankle injury.
Berrettini, a 2021 Wimbledon finalist, hadn't won on the ATP Tour since his Queen's Club victory two years ago. On Monday, he will move up 51 spots to No. 84 in the PIF ATP Rankings.
Baena had won nine consecutive matches in Marrakech before losing the final on Sunday in 1 hour and 46 minutes. He only converted one of eight break points, while Berrettini converted four of seven.
Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship
No. 1 seed Ben Shelton of the United States defeated countryman and No. 3 seed Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in the final in Houston.
Shelton, 21, became the event's youngest champion since Andy Roddick, who won at 19 years old in 2002. Shelton tallied 11 aces and eight double faults.
Tiafoe, the defending champion, fell 4-1 behind in the third set and never recovered.
