ATP roundup: Qualifiers claim titles in Belgrade and Metz

Denis Shapovalov won his second ATP Tour title and first in five years on Saturday, defeating home-country favourite Hamad Medjedovic 6-4, 6-4 at the Belgrade Open in Serbia.

Canadian Shapovalov's sole other championship trophy, came in Stockholm in 2019. The trophy, however, was delivered by Serbian legend Novak Djokovic.

Shapovalov, a tournament qualifier, triumphed in 77 minutes with 13 aces and an 82 percent winning percentage on first serves. The 25-year-old missed the second part of 2023 due to injury and has spent this season regaining form.

Medjedovic, 21, was making his first appearance in an ATP Tour final.

Against Norrie, Bonzi had 10 aces and saved 13 of 14 break points. The match was extremely tight, with Bonzi winning 81 and Norrie winning 76 of the total 157 points.
