ATP roundup: Sebastian Baez advances to the Cordoba semifinals with two wins.

Second-seeded Sebastian Baez worked double duty on Friday, winning two matches to reach the semifinals of the Cordoba (Argentina) Open.

In the second round, the Argentinian faced a tough challenge from Bolivia's Hugo Dellien, but won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Baez then defeated countryman Facundo Diaz Acosta 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

Baez will next face Luciano Darderi, an Argentine-born Italian qualifier who defeated Germany's seventh-seeded Yannick Hanfmann 7-6 (2), 6-1.

The other semifinal will feature an all-Argentine matchup between Federico Coria and qualifier Facundo Bagnis. Coria defeated third-seeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina 6-3, 6-4 on Friday, while Bagnis defeated Spain's Jaume Munar 7-5, 6-4.

Earlier Friday, Hanfmann defeated Argentina's Roman Andres Burruchaga 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, while Diaz Acosta defeated Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-2.

Dallas Open

Marcos Giron defeated top-seeded Frances Tiafoe 6-1, 6-4 in an all-American match to advance to the semifinals in Dallas.

Giron, 30, is two wins away from his first career ATP Tour title. In 2022, he reached his only final in San Diego, but lost to fellow countryman Brandon Nakashima.

Giron's next opponent is fourth-seeded Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, who advanced after Australia's James Duckworth retired in the quarterfinals, trailing 6-2, 3-1.

The other semifinal will be contested entirely by Americans. Ben Shelton, the third seed, defeated seventh-seeded Jordan Thompson of Australia 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-4, and will face second-seeded Tommy Paul, who defeated eighth-seeded Dominik Koepfer of Germany 7-5, 6-3.

In the quarterfinals in Marseille, France, all four top seeds defeated their opponents in straight sets.

The other semifinal matchup will be between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and Russian Karen Khachanov. Dimitrov defeated France's Arthur Rinderknech 6-3, 7-6 (3), while Khachanov crushed China's Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 6-1.
