Top-seeded Frances Tiafoe won in the Dallas Open's second round on Thursday, his first match since losing in the second round of the Australian Open.

Tiafoe, who received a first-round bye, defeated Alex Michelsen 6-4, 6-3 in a match between American players.

In the 78-minute match, Michelsen led Tiafoe 9-1 in aces and had more winners (22-15) but made twice as many unforced errors (10-5).

Seventh-seeded Jordan Thompson from Australia had a smooth day's work, beating the United States' Denis Kudla 6-1, 6-1.

Eighth-seeded Dominik Koepfer of Germany defeated Australia's Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 7-6 (5), and fourth-seeded Adrian Mannarino of France received a walkover when Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka got sick.

Open 13 Provence

In the second round in Marseille, France, the top two seeds defeated their opponents in straight sets.

Hubert Hurkacz of Poland defeated Kazakhstan's Alexander Shevchenko 6-1, 6-4, while Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria defeated the United States' Sebastian Korda 6-1, 7-6 (5).

Hurkacz won in 65 minutes thanks to a 13-3 advantage in aces and an 81 percent success rate with first serves. Dimitrov also won 81% of his first serves and saved two out of three break points.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the fifth seed from Spain, defeated Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland 6-3, 7-5.

Zhang Zhizhen of China defeated seventh-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada 6-4, 6-4, while France's Arthur Rinderknech defeated Czech Republic's Jiri Lehecka 7-5, 7-6(5).

Cordoba Open

Rain washed away most of Thursday's action in Cordoba, Argentina, leaving only one match completed.

Luciano Darderi, an Argentine qualifier, defeated fourth-seeded Sebastian Ofner of Austria 6-0, 6-3 to reach the ATP quarterfinals for the first time.

Another Argentine qualifier, Roman Andres Burruchaga, led seventh-seeded Yannick Hanfmann of Germany 6-3, 1-6, 2-1 when their match was called off due to rain.
