ATP Roundup: Zverev Secures 60th Victory in Vienna, Rublev Gets Off to a Strong Start in Basel

Top-seeded Alexander Zverev from Germany advanced effortlessly past Joel Schwaerzler, winning 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the Erste Bank Open held on Monday in Vienna, Austria.

This victory, which lasted 67 minutes, marked Zverev's 60th win of the season, equaling his career-best performance from 2018. He did not encounter a single break point and successfully secured 23 out of 24 points on his first serve against the young Austrian player.

In another match, Czech player Jakub Mensik eliminated eighth seed Alexei Popyrin from Australia with a score of 7-6, 6-2.

Italy's Matteo Berrettini also had a strong performance, winning 7-5, 6-4 against Hungary's Marton Fucsovics without facing any break points.

Flavio Cobolli of Italy triumphed over Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina with a score of 7-6, 6-3.

At the Swiss Indoors Basel, top seed Andrey Rublev from Russia required only 64 minutes to secure a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Portugal's Nuno Borges in the first round.

Rublev dropped just one point on his first serve (25 of 26) and achieved nearly double the number of winners (21-11) compared to Borges. His next opponent will be either Chile's Alejandro Tabilo or Croatia's Marin Cilic.

Fifth seed Ugo Humbert from France managed to outlast Switzerland's Jerome Kym with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 7-5, while seventh seed Arthur Fils of France defeated Germany's Daniel Altmaier 7-6, 6-3.

Other first-round victors included Belgium's David Goffin and France's Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
