Augsburg 0-1 VfB Stuttgart: Guirassy's second-half strike earns visitors narrow win and provisional second place

VfB Stuttgart won 1-0 at Augsburg on Friday, thanks to Serhou Guirassy's second-half goal, to move into second place ahead of Bayern Munich with their club record 22nd league victory of the season.

Guinea international Guirassy scored three minutes after the restart, bringing his league tally to 26 goals.

Guirassy scored the opening goal of a game for the 11th time this season, equaling the Bundesliga's second-best all-time record for a non-German player.

Stuttgart dominated throughout, with more than 70% possession, and could have added another with Chris Fuehrich a few minutes later, but keeper Tomas Koubek pushed his shot wide.

Stuttgart, who have secured their Champions League spot for next season, now have 70 points. They are one point ahead of Bayern, who face VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday.
