Australia confident heading into Adelaide Test, backed by strong day-night record - Alex Carey

Australia is poised to draw strength from their impressive performance in day-night tests as they aim to recover from their recent defeat in Perth when they confront India in the second match in Adelaide, according to wicketkeeper Alex Carey.

The Australian team has achieved victory in 11 out of 12 pink ball tests and has won all seven matches played at Adelaide Oval, including a notable win against India during the last home test series, where they dismissed Virat Kohli's side for just 36 runs.

"We are looking forward to this match. We derive significant confidence from our history with pink ball cricket," Carey stated to reporters on Tuesday.

"While past success does not guarantee future results, I believe our strategies, style of play, and the experience within this group will enable us to recover from the setback in Perth.

"I am certain that India will also carry confidence from their previous match, which promises to make for an exciting contest," Carey added.

India achieved a commanding 295-run victory at Perth Stadium in the first test of the five-match series.

Australia's winning streak in day-night tests was halted in January by the West Indies, who triumphed in a nail-biting finish by eight runs at the Gabba.

As the second test approaches on Friday, there are concerns regarding the fitness of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who experienced discomfort after bowling 17 overs in Perth.

Speculation in the Australian media suggests that Marsh may be retained solely as a specialist batsman, although selectors have included another all-rounder, uncapped Beau Webster, in the squad.

Carey expressed optimism regarding Marsh's fitness, stating he had not received any contrary information from the team.

"His batting has been exceptional since his return to the team, and his bowling has also been effective, as he took some crucial wickets," he remarked.

"We hope he will be fit and ready to participate."
