Australian Open: Nadal, Osaka return; Kyrgios missing as entry list is released

Rafael Nadal, Naomi Osaka, and Angelique Kerber will all make their comebacks, while Nick Kyrgios was noticeably absent from the Australian Open's main draw for men's and women's singles.

The Wimbledon finalist's 2023 has been marred by injuries, and he stated last month that "the stars would need to align" in order for him to participate in the Grand Slam the following month.

The representative for Kyrgios was unable to comment right away.

Nadal, the two-time champion, was drawn. He recently announced that, following a protracted injury layoff, he will participate in the Brisbane International.

Novak Djokovic, the reigning champion, is going to try to win a record-breaking eleventh championship at Melbourne Park and a total of 25 Grand Slam titles.

In the women's singles, world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka will defend her title against former champions Osaka and Kerber, who took a break from the tour to have children.
