Austria coach Ralf Rangnick confirms contact with Bayern Munich

Austria's coach Ralf Rangnick mentioned on Wednesday that Bayern Munich had reached out to him as they search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel.

Rangnick clarified that he is currently not engaging with any potential interest from Bayern, as his main focus is on the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.

He stated that there has been communication from Bayern Munich, and he has informed the Austrian Football Association about it. Rangnick emphasized his strong relationship with the Austrian national team and his complete dedication to preparing for the European championships.

Despite the contact from Bayern, Rangnick expressed his contentment with his current position and stated that he sees no immediate need to delve deeply into the matter.

He mentioned that he would only consider Bayern's offer if they officially express their desire for him to join the club. Rangnick highlighted that any decision regarding Bayern would involve discussions with the Austrian FA. Bayern Munich, who had previously won 11 league titles, lost out on the Bundesliga trophy this season to Bayer Leverkusen.

Tuchel, who had a disappointing domestic campaign with Bayern, is departing earlier than planned. Despite this, Bayern is still in contention for the Champions League title, facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

Rangnick, a seasoned coach with experience at clubs like Manchester United and RB Leipzig, made it clear that he would carefully consider any potential offer from Bayern before making a decision.

Austria is set to play France, Poland, and the Netherlands in their Euro 2024 Group D matches starting on June 17.
