Baker Mayfield's Unbeaten Streak Ends as Bucs Fall to Eagles 25-11

Baker Mayfield's unbeaten run with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came to an end on Monday night with a 25-11 loss to the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. The quarterback, who had played turnover-free ball in the first two weeks of the season, couldn't replicate his earlier success against a determined Eagles team.

Tampa Bay struggled on both sides of the ball, with turnovers and a lackluster ground game contributing to their downfall. Mayfield threw an interception, and the Bucs were 25-3 down before managing to score a touchdown with Mayfield's 1-yard throw to Mike Evans. Despite a late 2-point conversion narrowing the gap to 14 points, Tampa Bay couldn't mount a comeback.

Mayfield, who joined the Bucs after Tom Brady's retirement, completed 15 of 25 passes for 146 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Evans made history as the first player in franchise history to reach 700 career receptions, but it wasn't enough to match the Eagles' offensive firepower.

The Eagles dominated in terms of total offense, amassing 472 yards compared to Tampa Bay's 174, including a mere 41 rushing yards. Philadelphia controlled the clock, running 78 offensive plays to Tampa Bay's 44 and maintaining possession for nearly 39 minutes, while the Bucs had the ball for just over 21 minutes.

Head coach Todd Bowles acknowledged the Eagles' physicality and the challenges they posed. Mayfield echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for improvement and a quick turnaround.

Despite the disappointing loss, the Buccaneers are looking ahead and focusing on addressing their issues for the upcoming games. Mayfield emphasized the importance of self-assessment and moving forward to rectify their mistakes.

The loss ended Mayfield's unbeaten start with the Buccaneers, but it's a long season, and the team is determined to bounce back stronger in the games to come.
