Barcelona 5-0 Young Boys: Barca turn on the style to thrash visitors in Champions League

Barcelona swiftly returned to winning form, achieving a historic 5-0 victory over Young Boys in their inaugural competitive encounter in the UEFA Champions League (UCL). This result prolongs the Swiss team's search for their first away win in the elite tier of European football since 1960.
Following an unexpected defeat to Osasuna over the weekend, Hansi Flick demanded a strong reaction from his Barcelona squad, and they delivered. The Catalan team dominated possession early on, translating their control into a goal within the first ten minutes.
A sequence of possession concluded with Lamine Yamal assisting Raphinha on the right flank, who then found Robert Lewandowski at the back post. The Polish striker made no mistake, scoring and extending Young Boys' dismal record of just one clean sheet in their last 20 UCL matches.
After surviving the initial pressure, Young Boys appeared to gain confidence as the first half progressed. However, Barcelona quickly halted their momentum, establishing a three-goal lead before halftime.
Raphinha capitalized on a rebound from Pedri’s blocked shot to score the first, followed by a powerful header from Inigo Martínez off a free-kick delivered by Pedri.
Continuing their relentless attack after the break, Barcelona scored a fourth goal through Lewandowski, who headed in from Martínez’s excellent delivery following a corner.
In an effort to restore some dignity for Young Boys, Patrick Rahmen made a double substitution, which seemed to invigorate the visitors.
Shortly after the hour mark, they created their best opportunities, with Joel Monteiro hitting the crossbar and Jaouen Hadjam having a shot cleared off the line.
Nevertheless, Barcelona soon regained control of the match, aided by the return of Frenkie de Jong, who had been sidelined for over five months.
The Blaugrana sailed to victory, securing a fifth goal late in the match when Alejandro Balde's cross into the penalty area was inadvertently redirected into his own net by Mohamed Camara. This goal concluded a comfortable evening for the Catalans, who, following their unexpected loss to Monaco on matchday one, recognized the critical need to obtain three points in preparation for their upcoming match against Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Young Boys continue to face difficulties, as the 17-time Swiss champions find themselves in second-to-last place in the domestic league, having suffered significant defeats in their first two UEFA Champions League matches.
