Barcelona 7-0 Real Valladolid: Barca put seven past Valladolid to continue perfect start

Barcelona continued their perfect start to the La Liga season with a resounding 7-0 victory over newly promoted Real Valladolid. This triumph not only solidified their winning streak but also extended their unbeaten record in home league encounters against Valladolid, a streak that dates back to November 1997.

Dani Olmo, who had recently scored the decisive goal on his debut for Barcelona, was given his first start in this match and quickly became a key player in the early moments.

A delicate cross from Lamine Yamal found Robert Lewandowski at the back post, who could only redirect it towards Olmo, but the latter's close-range shot struck the post.

Olmo found the net in the 10th minute, only to have his goal ruled out for offside, yet it was evident that the opening goal for the Blaugrana was imminent.

This expectation was fulfilled when Raphinha scored, finishing expertly after receiving a precise pass from Pau Cubarsí that split the Valladolid defense.

Just four minutes later, the visitors' defense was breached again, with Yamal setting up Lewandowski to score Barcelona’s second goal with a powerful shot.

At this point, it seemed a daunting task for Valladolid to recover, although they could take some solace in the fact that Barcelona had scored exactly two goals in eight of their last ten league matches.

However, Hansi Flick’s side showed no signs of mercy, adding a third goal in first-half stoppage time when Jules Koundé capitalized on a loose ball in the box, striking it in off the post.

After the break, Valladolid's realistic hope was merely to limit the damage, but Barcelona continued to dominate the match.

Olmo missed a prime opportunity at the back post, followed by Yamal being thwarted by Karl Hein, and Lewandowski also hit the post with his attempt.

Ultimately, Valladolid could not escape further punishment, conceding a fourth goal just after the hour mark.

A low cross resulted in a tumultuous situation within the penalty area, where Lewandowski demonstrated his vast experience by deftly lifting the ball to the back post, allowing Raphinha to easily finish into an unguarded net. The Brazilian quickly completed his hat-trick, skillfully sliding the ball past Hein after receiving a precise pass from Yamal.

Not satisfied with five goals, Olmo joined the scoring spree, netting for the second consecutive match by breaking through the Valladolid defense and curling the ball into the far corner.

The onslaught persisted into the final moments of the match, with Ferran Torres also contributing by heading Raphinha’s cross into the near post.

Fortunately for the visiting team, the scoring concluded at seven, as Barcelona conveyed a formidable message to their La Liga competitors, particularly Real Madrid, who have already dropped four points in the first three matches.
