Barcelona sweat over Lewandowski's hamstring injury ahead of key Copa del Rey and Champions League clashes

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has suffered a hamstring injury, the club confirmed on Sunday, casting doubt over his availability for upcoming crucial fixtures in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League. The Polish forward was forced off late in Barca’s dramatic 4-3 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday, a match in which he marked his 100th LaLiga appearance.

“Tests carried out this Sunday have confirmed that first-team player Robert Lewandowski has an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh,” read a statement from Barcelona. “His return to team training will depend on how the injury progresses.”

The club did not specify a recovery timeline, but reports in the Spanish media suggest Lewandowski could be out for up to three weeks. That would likely sideline him for the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid next weekend and potentially jeopardize his involvement in Barcelona’s Champions League semi-final showdown with Inter Milan.

Lewandowski has been in prolific form this season, leading the LaLiga scoring charts with 25 goals—three more than Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe. The 36-year-old has netted 40 goals in total across all competitions, and his absence would be a major setback as Barcelona looks to secure silverware on multiple fronts.
