Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 VfL Wolfsburg: League leaders cruise past 10-man visitors to maintain lead at the top of the table

Unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen defeated 10-man VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 on Sunday to reclaim their 10-point lead at the top of the table and remain on track for their first Bundesliga title.
Leverkusen are now unbeaten in all competitions this season, taking their total to 36 games without defeat.
Xabi Alonso's team have 67 points, while champions Bayern Munich have 57 after defeating Mainz 05 8-1 on Saturday. There are nine matchdays remaining in the season.
Florian Wirtz hit the post in the 22nd minute, and the visitors were reduced to ten men six minutes later after Moritz Jenz received his second booking.
Leverkusen, who had to come from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw at Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Thursday, showed no signs of fatigue, and the hosts quickly took advantage of their extra man.
In the 37th minute, Nathan Tella found enough space in the box to convert a perfect Alejandro Grimaldo cross.
After the break, it was one-way traffic, with the Wolves defending in numbers and Leverkusen looking to add to their lead with another goal.
Granit Xhaka tested Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels with a long-range shot in the 70th minute, and Grimaldo and substitute Borja Iglesias went close moments later.
Wirtz, a Germany international, made amends for his earlier miss by volleying in their second goal in the 87th minute to seal the victory and set a new club record of 25 consecutive league games without defeat.
