Besiktas appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as new manager

Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas have confirmed the appointment of former Manchester United manager and striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager, the club announced on Saturday.
The 51-year-old Norwegian has agreed to terms on a deal that will run until the end of next season, with an option for a one-year extension. This marks Solskjaer's return to management following his departure from United in 2021.
Currently sitting in sixth place in the Turkish Super Lig, Besiktas has been without a permanent head coach since Giovanni van Bronckhorst's departure in November.
"We believe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make significant contributions to our club, and we warmly welcome him to the Besiktas family, wishing him great success," the club said in an official statement.
Besiktas will face Samsunspor later on Saturday and travel to Antalyaspor next week in the league. In addition, they are currently 28th in the Europa League standings, just one point behind the play-off spots with two matches remaining in the group stage.
