Billie Jean King Cup finals moved to Malaga from Seville

This change will result in a scheduling conflict with the Davis Cup, which is also set to take place at the same venue.
The tournament is set to commence at the Martin Carpena Arena in Malaga, Spain on November 13th and conclude on November 20th. The final two days of the Billie Jean King Cup will coincide with the initial two days of the Davis Cup finals, scheduled from November 19th to 24th.
To address this overlap, the ITF has confirmed that an additional court will be built to ensure that both events can proceed as planned.
According to the ITF's statement, the decision to relocate the tournament was made in collaboration with the event's host partner, Junta de Andalucia (government of Andalucia), with the support of the city and diputacion (provincial council) of Malaga.
The ITF expressed excitement about the opportunity for the Billie Jean King Cup, formerly known as the Fed Cup, to combine forces with the Davis Cup, creating a unique and prestigious two-week period of international team tennis.
Furthermore, the ITF has made arrangements for existing ticket holders for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Sevilla to either exchange their tickets for equivalent sessions in Malaga or receive a full refund.
The competition, previously consisting of 12 national teams divided into four round robin groups, will now have eight teams competing in a knockout round one. Four seeded teams will automatically advance to the quarter finals.
The current title holders, Canada, are set to play against either Germany or Britain in the quarter-final match, while the runners-up, Italy, will face off against Japan or Romania.
ITF CEO Kelly Fairweather expressed the organization's commitment to providing a smooth experience for both players and fans, ensuring that the upcoming event will be extraordinary and unforgettable.
The ITF is confident that this adjustment will maintain the esteemed reputation of both tournaments and is eagerly anticipating welcoming the top 20 teams from around the world, along with their players and supporters, to Malaga this November.
