Bills' Josh Allen named 2025 NFL Most Valuable Player

On Thursday, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was honored as the NFL's Most Valuable Player, narrowly surpassing Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson for the accolade.
Allen, who guided the Bills to the AFC Championship game, where they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs, amassed a total of 383 points and received 27 first-place votes, while Jackson garnered 362 points and 23 first-place votes.
Throughout the season, Allen recorded a total of 41 touchdowns—28 through passing, 12 via rushing, and one by receiving—contributing to the Bills scoring over 30 points in 12 games during 2024, which is tied for the second-highest number of such games by a team in a single NFL season.
"I know this is an individual award and it says Most Valuable Player on it but I think it is derived from team success and I love my team," said Allen.
In the MVP voting, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley secured third place but was awarded the Offensive Player of the Year title.
Barkley became only the ninth player in NFL history to exceed 2,000 rushing yards in a single season, establishing a new franchise record. His total of 2,005 rushing yards ranks as the eighth highest in regular season history.
Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was named Coach of the Year, finishing slightly ahead of Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
In a competitive NFC North division, O'Connell led the Vikings to a remarkable 14-3 record during the regular season, securing a playoff berth for the second time in his three years with the team.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was awarded the Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Jared Verse of the Los Angeles Rams received the Defensive Rookie of the Year honor.
The awards were presented at an elegant ceremony held at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, in anticipation of the upcoming Super Bowl matchup between the Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
