Blazers snap eight-game losing streak with wire-to-wire victory over Jazz

On Wednesday night, Jerami Grant's impressive 30-point performance powered the Portland Trail Blazers to a decisive 121-105 victory over the struggling Utah Jazz, putting an end to the Blazers' eight-game losing streak. Malcolm Brogdon contributed significantly with 20 points and eight assists, while Jabari Walker made a notable impact off the bench, achieving a career-high 19 points along with 10 rebounds. The Blazers, at one point, held a commanding 32-point lead.

The Jazz, led by Lauri Markkanen's 24 points, continued their struggles with a fifth consecutive loss and eighth defeat in their last 10 games. Jabari Walker credited the team's turnaround to Coach Chauncey Billups, who motivated them with inspiring footage highlighting their strengths.

Scoot Henderson, the Blazers' rookie guard, returned to action after a nine-game absence due to a sprained ankle. Although he didn't start, Henderson received cheers when he entered the game, contributing three points and seven assists in 17 minutes.

Both teams played back-to-back games, with the Blazers falling to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, and the Jazz suffering a defeat against the Lakers. Jazz coach Will Hardy experimented with the lineup, starting Kelly Olynyk for the first time this season.

Despite injuries, the Blazers showcased a nearly full lineup with the return of Malcolm Brogdon from a sore hamstring. However, guard Anfernee Simons remained sidelined with a thumb ligament tear.

Portland's dominance was evident, establishing a 36-21 lead midway through the first half and entering halftime with a comfortable 65-46 advantage. Jerami Grant's notable layup in the third quarter further widened the gap to 77-55. Grant's impressive five 3-pointers matched his season high, contributing to the Blazers' season-best total of 17 made 3s.

Looking ahead, the Utah Jazz are set to host New Orleans in a two-game series on Saturday and Monday. Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers will face the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday afternoon, marking a notable matchup against former Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard, who was traded to the Bucks in the offseason after 11 seasons with Portland.
