Devin Booker fuels Suns' 112-108 victory over the Wizards

Despite struggling with his shooting throughout the game, Devin Booker managed to bounce back in the fourth quarter, contributing 11 out of his total 27 points. Leading the Phoenix Suns, they successfully rallied from a 16-point disadvantage to secure a 112-108 victory against the Washington Wizards on Sunday night.
Booker struggled with his 3-point shooting in the first three quarters, missing six out of seven attempts. However, he managed to find his rhythm in the final period and made a pair of crucial shots to help the Suns overcome an eight-point deficit.
Despite his frustration with the missed shots, Booker acknowledged the importance of staying focused and continuing to play. He emphasized the need for effective communication on defense, aiming to limit easy layups and force opponents into contested mid-range shots. Booker recognized the talent and firepower present throughout the league, emphasizing the significance of gaining an early lead and building confidence.
In addition to his scoring, Booker also contributed eight assists, showcasing his playmaking abilities. Suns coach Frank Vogel praised Booker's ability to take over the game when needed, highlighting that it is when he is at his best.
Kevin Durant led the Suns in scoring with 28 points, including an impressive dunk and a three-point play in the final minute. Jusuf Nurkic dominated the boards with 17 rebounds, while Drew Eubanks and Jordan Goodwin made valuable contributions off the bench.
The Suns have struggled to maintain leads in the fourth quarter this season, but they managed to turn things around in this game. They outscored the Washington Wizards 31-19 in the final period, ending a two-game losing streak and maintaining a winning record of 14-12.
Durant acknowledged the importance of this victory and expressed the team's desire to build upon it and continue improving.
Despite their victory, the Suns struggled from beyond the arc, making only 7 of their 31 attempts from 3-point range. They also committed 17 turnovers, which could have been demoralizing. However, Durant believed that the team had good looks in the first half and felt that their shooting improved in the second half, making everything look better.
On the opposing side, Daniel Gafford had an impressive performance for the Wizards, scoring 26 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. However, his efforts were not enough to secure a win for the team, as they fell to a 4-21 record and failed to win consecutive games for the first time this season. The Wizards had previously won only one out of their last 16 games before defeating the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.
Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. expressed his admiration for Gafford, stating, "He was exceptional. Despite enduring physical challenges on some nights, he never gives up. He consistently leads our defense and protects the rim. He continuously made crucial plays to keep us competitive."
In the game, Tyus Jones contributed 22 points for Washington, while Kyle Kuzma added 17 points before fouling out.
Meanwhile, former Wizard Bradley Beal was unable to play for the Suns due to a sprained right ankle sustained in the previous game against New York. Beal had recently returned to the lineup after missing 12 games due to a back injury. Suns coach Frank Vogel mentioned that an update on Beal's condition would be provided on Monday.
In Beal's absence, Nassir Little made his first start of the season, and Eric Gordon returned to score 13 points after missing the last two games due to a right leg contusion.
Up next, the Wizards will face the Sacramento Kings on Monday night, while the Phoenix Suns will play against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.
